Ofsted and the Big Birthday

Well where do I start??!!

This week has been a real mixed bag! The atmosphere at school has been really strange as everybody was anticipating the dreaded Ofsted inspectors. I personally think that Ofsted should just turn up so that teachers can avoid this panic. Plus, a false image was created, which is totally unnecessary particularly at this school. The head will tell us the result of this at the end of the day so I will let you know next time. I think it will be good though. I got 'accidently' inspected yesterday AND today, they really weren't properly informed. It doesn't affect me but both inspectors told me that they would have rated me as 'good' so thats a bonus. My teaching was pretty poor at the beginning of this week but something has clicked and I am finally getting good feedback - woo hoo! My best moment was when my mentor said that he thought one of my ideas was so good that he would use it too. Ah well lets hope that I can keep this good teaching up now.

And so on to the other excitement of my week. It was Alby's birthday yesterday and after all that planning it went swimmingly - yay! He liked all his presents and he even seemed fairly impressed at my attempt to make him a birthday card - woot! (Note: I thought I would try out the word 'woot' as Alby uses it all the time and I am not convinced. Any thoughts - is he just pulling my leg by using a fictional term for woo hoo??) He had no idea where I was going to take him. I took him to a Japanese Teppenyaki restaurant, Ah So in Norwich. It was absolutely amazing. he chefs cook all of your food in front of you and they do loads of tricks such as setting fire to things and catching eggs in their chefs hat! They also made some egg fried rice and they shaped it so it said Alby - you should have seen his face! I think that he thought that it was pretty cool. I must admit I was a bit dubious when I heard about it - but I was wrong. Finally we had the fried ice cream for dessert which has to be seen to be believed. I was so impressed by the whole evening I would love to return again. It was an expensive night but so worth it.

Anyway I am distracting myself from work yet again! Although tomorrow I am teaching year 7 - test and a quiz; year 10 - test and a quiz and finally year 8 - a debate on MMR. I love the last day of term!!!

Take care everyone and keep in touch xxxx
