All that Crack!

Well today was pretty evendtful at school today. I started out by cracking paraffin oil this morning which started off pretty well considering it was only the second time that I had ever done it. Unfortuantly I failed to set up quite correctly so I ended up burning the cork clamp. If you have ever smelt burning cork you will know that it stinks to high heaven! I got over that mishap only to leave the bunsen heating the oil a bit too long as I was telling off a boy to my right. Yes I nearly gassed a classroom of 14 year olds!! The boiling tube somehow managed to warp and flames came spurting out of a hole in the side with lots of smoke. I actually remained pretty calm surprisingly. I turned off the bunsen and opened up all of the windows so managed to avoid the alarm going off (thank god this was in the shack which has a separate alarm to the rest of the school). The kids however did panic and they all complained that they were wheezy - seriously it wasn't that bad. What made it even worse was that my head of science decided to join us about 10 minutes before this 'incident'. He didn't seem to respond to any of it - he just sat and watched! He didn't say anything about it to me all day - so who knows??!!

I am now in the library actually trying to do some work for a change without being distracted by the television (just realised that this exercise is pretty much pointless as I am writing this instead!). After this I am off to collect my babies for show and tell tomorrow from Anne's house. Anne is the best ever - she is on my course and is so bloody creative that I am green with envy. Only kidding she is fab and it saves me spending hours making babies (insert joke).

Oooh quick update on the running over incident. My ass is still pretty sore and my back aches a little. I also hurt my neck trying to bend enough to be able to see if there is a bruise forming. I then realised that using my mirror was more productive. No bruise as of yet so all ok!
